Classes We Offer
Nantucket Ballet offers a variety of dance classes for all skill levels. Our experienced instructors are passionate about helping each dancer achieve their highest potential, in a safe supportive environment. In addition to ballet classes we also offer tap, lyrical, and contemporary classes. Nantucket Ballet is proud to be the official training school of Nantucket Dance Theater Performance Company.
Ballet
Ages 3 - 18
Classes for children start at age 3 with Pre-Primary Ballet. Primary Ballet is for kindergarten age through 8. And Levels 1 - 7 are placed at the discretion of the instructors. Each class is developmentally appropriate and focuses on proper ballet technique, musicality, and most importantly a joy for movement.
Tap
ages 8 +
Students will gain experience in traditional tap vocabulary through learning and practicing a variety of tap steps, short phrases, tap turns, and choreography using different rhythms supported by a wide range of music
Lyrical + Contemporary
ages 8+
Lyrical dance combines elements of ballet and jazz to create a soft style that emphasizes the storytelling quality of music. An emphasis is placed on grace and fluidity, musicality, and expressiveness to capture emotion through movement.
Contemporary dance combines elements of lyrical, modern, jazz, and ballet to express themes through movement. An emphasis is placed on fluidity of movement, floor work, directional and rhythmic changes, and control.
